Andy Dick was born in Charleston, South Carolina on December 21, 1966. He was adopted by Allen and Sue Dick, both of whom are now deceased. Andy attended Illinois Wesleyan University and Columbia College in Chicago. He also studied with Del Close at Chicago’s Second City.
Andy has one son by ex-wife Ivonne; and two children by girlfriend Lina.
He first paired with Ben Stiller in Stiller’s 1988 comedy short “Elvis Stories.”
Dick has appeared in the films Flashback, In the Army Now, For the Boys, Reality Bites, and like the rest of Stiller Alum, in a cameo in The Cable Guy, as a grunged-out Medieval King.
He gained wide recognition and acclaim as Mathew, the slightly-off newsie on NBC’s News Radio (1995-1999). In 2001, he created the self-titled sketch series The Andy Dick Show for MTV, which took its comedic cues from the Stiller Show.
Andy starred as Owen Kronsky on the ABC comedy Less Than Perfect from 2002-2006.
He has performed with the Un-Cabaret, an alternative comedy group. He has toured under the banner of “Andy Dick and the Circus of Freaks” and as the lead singer of musical-comedy troupe “Andy Dick and the Bitches of the Century.”
